Sunless Tanning Booths

Using a sunless tanning booth at a salon may be easier than doing it on your own.

Spray-on tanning products dry much faster than lotions, gels, or mousses. You can put on a tan, get dressed, and be out the door more quickly. Lotions, mousses, and gels will stain your clothes if you don’t give them enough time to thoroughly dry before getting dressed. You can use a sunless tanning product yourself at home or have a professional apply it at a tanning salon. Many tanning salons have sunless tanning booths and use a variety of tanning products. Some salons offer "airbrushing" booths for spray-on tanning.

Using a sunless tanning booth at a salon may be easier than doing it on your own. In a booth, the parts of your body that you do not wish to have tanned, such as fingernails and palms, are first masked off. You also have a trained staff member to do your back and help you make sure your tan is even all over.

A spray-on tan generally lasts 5 to 7 days. Your skin should be well moisturized before application of the spray for maximum penetration. Apply a high-quality tanning lotion an hour or two ahead of time if you can. If your skin is dry, the tan will literally fall off in a few days.
